The city of Cambridge (pronounced /ˈkeɪmbrɪdʒ/ ( listen) (KAYM-bridj)) is a university town and the administrative centre of the county of Cambridgeshire, England. It lies in East Anglia about 50 miles (80 km) north of London. Cambridge is also at the heart of the high-technology centre known as Silicon Fen – a play on Silicon Valley and the fens surrounding the city.

Cambridge is best known as the home of the University of Cambridge, one of the world's premier universities. The university includes the renowned Cavendish Laboratory, King's College Chapel, and the Cambridge University Library. The Cambridge skyline is dominated by the last two buildings, along with the chimney of Addenbrooke's Hospital in the far south of the city and St John's College Chapel tower in the north.

According to the 2001 United Kingdom census, the city's population was 108,863 (including 22,153 students), and the population of the urban area (which includes parts of South Cambridgeshire district) is estimated to be 130,000. Cambridge is surrounded by many smaller towns and villages.

How is the Watermark Cambridge building? Any noise problems from construction work nearby?
Q. We are thinking about moving into Watermark Cambridge building, but are not able to have a showing in advance as we are in Germany at the moment. Any opinions about this building? The pictures of the building look great, but on Google Streetview we saw a big construction going on right next door. Does anyone know, if this construction is finished by now? Or does anyone actually live in this building and can tell me, if there is any noise problem with the construction site nearby. Thanks a lot!

A. I live right across the sreet! There is construction going on but they are finishing up and should be done in a couple of months.. But I doubt you would be able to hear anything from inside of your apartment anyway. P.S. The pics on google maps were taken almost a year ago so the area probably looks a bit different now.

How can one prepare for a Cambridge economics interview?
Q. I have a student going for a Cambridge Economics interview. Any tips on how she should prepare for it? What kinds of questions do they ask?
Asked by ZR - Tue Oct 20 05:06:06 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You need to be sure that you are well informed of some of the key economic issues of the time. Currently now there are the issues of the bankers' pay and whether the gov have done enough to avert another crisis. There are also micro issues such as the kraft/ cadbury merger and the takeover of Opel and whether it breaks EU law. You should also have some idea of the significance of maths for economists. Moreover, you ought to be able to talk about something in Economics that has interested you, particularly beyond the A level curriculm.

Can you recommened areas of Cambridge to live?
Q. We are looking to improve our quality of life and are currently researching areas in the Uk to relocate to ( currently living in Manchester) Cambridge has been recommended, but we need to have more information before we come to have a look around and research more detail. Can anyone tell me what are the best places to live, also what areas to stay away from. We are a couple aged 35 and 41, no children as yet with professional jobs. We are looking for a quiet area near the countryside but with commuting distance to Cambridge.Your advice is much appreciated. Thank you.
